Post-kidney transplantation external iliac artery stenosis due to vascular clamp: report of a case
We report a case of right external iliac artery stenosis after kidney transplantation surgery caused by vascular clamp application injury. The patient presented with claudication of the ipsilateral lower limb and the lesion was diagnosed angiographically. The patient was treated with endovascular stent placement.

Extra-vascular findings in patients undergoing magnetic resonance angiography of the abdomen, pelvis and lower extremities: A retrospective study of 352 patients.
Conclusions Extravascular findings are frequently encountered in magnetic resonance angiography performed for vascular indications. Clinically relevant findings are seen in a substantial part of patients and should prompt further diagnostic work-up. PMID: 28587578 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Incidence of major complication following embolo-sclerotherapy for upper and lower extremity vascular malformations.
CONCLUSIONS: Embolo-sclerotherapy is relatively safe for upper and lower extremity vascular malformations in a high-volume experienced center where our major complication rates were 14.3% and 4.7%, respectively, which compare favorably or similar to those reported in most recent literature. These outcomes will direct treatment strategies to avoid local and systemic toxic complications in the upper and lower extremity, for both HFVM and LFVM, and to improve informed consent. Setting high-impact clinical research priorities for the Society for Vascular Surgery
With the overall goal of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of vascular care, the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) recently completed a process by which it identified its top clinical research priorities to address critical gaps in knowledge guiding practitioners in prevention and treatment of vascular disease. After a survey of the SVS membership, a panel of SVS committee members and opinion leaders considered 53 distinct research questions through a structured process that resulted in identification of nine clinical issues that were felt to merit immediate attention by vascular investigators and external fundin...

Approach to the vascular complications of lumbar disc surgery.
The objective of this study was to demonstrate the role of major surgery on patients presenting with vascular complications after lumbar disc surgery. A retrospective analysis of seven cases treated surgically in two tertiary care centers between August 2001 and June 2010 was carried out. The average age of patients (three women and four men) was 35.8 ± 7.2. The most common vessel injured was the left common iliac artery occurring in five patients (71.4%), followed by the left common iliac vein injury detected in two patients (28.5%). Transperitoneal approach was preferred in all cases and primary suturing, graft interpos...

Transradial approach for challenging vascular access interventions.
CONCLUSION: The transradial approach for vascular access endovascular interventions is technically feasible and safe. It allows simultaneous treatment of peri-anastomotic lesions in fistulas with complex venous anatomy as well as lesions in the arterial inflow and central outflow. The impact of urgent computed tomography angiography for gunshot wounds in extremities with concomitant vascular injuries on diagnosis and postoperative outcomes.
Conclusion In the light of our study, we favor the immediate operative exploration of gunshot wounds in extremities with concomitant hard signs of vascular injuries without waiting for preoperative CT angiography, thereby minimizing the shock state and ischemic interval. CT angiography may be required for a more stable patient to avoid unnecessary surgical exploration. PMID: 30041567 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vascular graft thrombosis secondary to activated protein C resistance: a case report and literature review.
Abstract Hypercoagulability is a well-documented and prominent risk factor for venous thromboembolism. The role of thrombophilia in arterial thrombotic events is less well defined. A 52-year-old male patient with multiple atherogenic risk factors was admitted for non-healing pedal ulcer and absent distal pulses. Based on the clinical presentation, Doppler ultrasound and angiography findings, the patient underwent elective in situ bypass arterial reconstruction. The saphenous vein graft was of satisfactory quality and the procedure went routinely. Acute graft thrombosis on postoperative day 0 was recognized immedia...

The in vivo characterization of electrospun heparin-bonded polycaprolactone in small-diameter vascular reconstruction.
CONCLUSION: This preliminary study demonstrates that heparin-bonded polycaprolactone is a suitable graft for small artery reconstruction. However, heparin-bonded polycaprolactone degrades more rapidly than polycaprolactone in vivo. PMID: 25208900 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Physiologic Response Predicts Freedom From Reintervention More Accurately Than Angiogram Following Endovascular Revascularization for Peripheral Vascular Disease
Endovascular therapy (EVT) is emerging as the primary treatment modality for peripheral vascular disease (PVD). Unfortunately, EVT has a limited success rate and high rate of reintervention. We investigated the association between hemodynamic changes, clinical improvement, and the need for re-intervention, after EVT for PVD.

Pulmonary sequestration and endovascular treatment: a case report
We report the case of a 29-year-old-woman presenting with recurrent pneumonia for 5 years. A CT scan of the chest revealed poor vascular formation in the lower region of the right lung. The pulmonary sequestration was treated by embolization of the anomalous branch.

Initial experience with a reversal-of-flow cerebral protection device in carotid angioplasty
PURPOSE: To report initial findings with the GORE Flow Reversal System®, with a focus on major/minor adverse events in the 30 first postoperative days. METHODS: The first 24 patients submitted to carotid angioplasty using the GORE system, from June 2010 to May 2012, were retrospectively assessed with regard to indications, anatomic details, technical difficulties, and early clinical outcomes, including major (stroke, death, acute myocardial infarction) and minor (hematoma) adverse events. RESULTS: Systemic hypertension was present in 100% of the patients, diabetes mellitus in 58.3%, and coronary disease in 37.5%. Type II ...

Endovascular repair of traumatic external iliac vessel pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistulae
A 17-year-old male patient presenting with an abdominal gunshot wound and severe hypovolemic shock was initially operated and presented several injuries to the small bowel and cecum associated with severe hemorrhage. The patient had to be operated twice due to hypothermia, acidosis, and coagulopathy. In the late postoperative period, murmur and fremitus were observed. Angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm associated with arteriovenous fistulae at the left external iliac vessels. Lesions were repaired with a stent graft placed in the external iliac artery, with a satisfactory outcome. Control computed tomography performed 6...
